How to get in kos island

Kos island has an international airport and with many daily flights from Athens but also from many European countries. 

The island is also connected by ferry to Piraeus port in Athens but also many islands in the Aegean.


1. By airplane (~1 hour)

Kos International Airport, also known as "Hippocrates," serves domestic flights throughout the year, and during the summer months, the airport offers connections to several European countries by also via Greek cities. The flight duration from Athens to Kos is approximately 1 hour. Usually the ticket price ranges between 50 EUR to 80 EUR for a domestic flight.

The airport is located 24 km away from Kos Town. There are 2 ways to get there from Kos airport:
  1. Get a taxi, usual fare is around 40 EUR* for one route and it takes around 40 minutes. There are numerous taxis available in front of the airport. However, we will provide also pre-booking options with a discount code in coming months.
  2. Another option is to use the public bus service, us, which runs between the airport and Kos Town. The bus stop is conveniently located just about 50 meters from the airport's entrance. However there are only a few routes on a daily basis as illustrated in the following picture.

2. By ferry (~12 hours)


Reaching Kos Town via ferry from Piraeus, the primary port in Athens, is straightforward, with available routes operating at least 1 per day with Blue Star Ferries. The journey typically lasts approximately 11 hours and usual ticket price ranges between 60 EUR to 70 EUR.

In addition to Athens, Kos maintains ferry connections with Rhodes, Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, and numerous smaller islands. Kalymnos stands as the nearest island to Kos, with a ferry voyage between the two destinations lasting just 1 hour. Furthermore, there are ferry routes linking Kos with Bodrum in Turkey.

  • Takes a lot of hours
  • In some cases the ticket price is the same as with airplane

From KOS Town to Kipriotis Village Resort (Local buses)

From Kos Town to Kipriotis Village Resort (main hotel) and vice versa, you can take the local bus No1(Agios Fokas) or No5(Therma) that are stopping in front of the hotel in around 11 stops and 10 minutes. For the bus schedule, please check the first two columns of the first page of this PDF, or visit the local mobility service website. Bus ticket price is around 3 EUR for one route.
